Philosophy Statement :: Education Teaching Teachers Classroom Essays

Reasoning Statement â€Å"Give a youngster a fish and he eats for a day. Instruct him to fish and he eats for a lifetime.† ~Author Unknown Educating isn't a calling yet a real existence decision to change the world each youngster in turn. In a homeroom there are four dividers and inside those four dividers lies the chance to fabricate solid establishments for tomorrow. I accept there are three angles to instructing; contacting the psyche (mental), the heart (passionate), and the hands (physical). On the off chance that you take a small kid to the lake, a waterway, or even a stream and instruct him to angle he learns strategies intellectually, feels cherished and needed inwardly, and discovers that he is developing genuinely. The equivalent can be said for a study hall. Teach a child’s mind, love a child’s heart, and hold a child’s hand and achievement is immediately conspicuous. The three walk connected at the hip toward a child’s by and large turn of events. The brain must be animated to learn. Youngsters realize what they see, not what they are told. In spite of the fact that my goal is to instruct on a secondary school level, I accept that the equivalent is valid with teenagers. Guardians announce, â€Å"Do as I state not as I do,† yet youngsters reproduce what they are presented to every day. On the off chance that an educator isn't amped up for what she is showing neither will the understudy be amped up for what he/she is learning. States of mind are infectious, make the environment preposterous! It is my craving that understudies see my eagerness when encouraging my substance region and that fervor lights a fire of enthusiasm for learning inside the individual understudy and the homeroom all in all. Youngsters today want to feel needed. They need to fit in, they need to look cool, they need to be adored and become hopelessly enamored, they essentially need acknowledgment. It is my activity as a tutor to sustain those fundamental needs of passionate improvement at the youthful age. I promise never to criticize an understudy for an off-base answer, never berate a student before peers, and never humiliate a kid for showing my position. Understudies need to have a feeling of having a place and reason inside the study hall and the world outside, supporting their heart and feelings is basic during these years.

Analysis of Derivatives and the Perception of Investors

Investigation of Derivatives and the Perception of Investors Part 1: Introduction 1. Presentation: The securities exchange is described by unpredictability, which makes vulnerability in the market and makes expectations with respect to future trade rates troublesome, both in the short and long haul. Notwithstanding, it is these consistent variances in the financial exchange that make it workable for organizations or people to exploit the developments in return rates through theoretical exercises. These variances additionally represent a danger for any shipper/exporter exchanging the worldwide commercial center as universal organizations are normally presented to cash hazard. This requires the appropriation of supporting methodologies to alleviate hazard. The unpredictability in the securities exchange should be managed in a legitimate, judicious and auspicious way. Something else, unfriendly cash changes can deliver difficult exercises on an organization or person. Later in this proposition we will explore in detail the unpredictability of the securities exchange and the potential hazard introduction looked by all market members. Individuals go into the financial exchange for different reasons and the previously mentioned potential for benefit is a significant inspiration. To be sure, a few brokers who accompany the goal of causing benefit by exploiting market variances to participate in theoretical exercises in the securities exchange and acknowledge the dangers in question, while others endeavor to shield themselves from instability by taking part in supporting exercises. Merchants in this first class are regularly known as examiners, while the last are known as hedgers. Examiners enter the market, in actuality, by putting their â€Å"bets† available developments. Should their expectation work out, they make benefits; if their forecasts are not understood, they endure misfortunes. Hedgers enter the market with the aim of guaranteeing themselves against any unfavorable market developments they may experience in their business activity. Supporting inc ludes the formation of a place that balances a vacant position happening in their business tasks; with the goal that the increase in the business (fence) position will counterbalance the loss of the supporting (business) position. There are different budgetary instruments utilized for exchanging the securities exchange. The most well-known are spot contracts, forward, fates, choices, trades and different currency advertise instruments. Forward, fates, choices and trades are subordinates instruments. Normally utilized instruments in the currency showcase incorporate (yet are not restricted to): Treasury bills, Eurodollar, Euro yen, Authentication of store (CD), Business paper Truth be told, the currency advertise speaks to the majority of the money related instruments that have under a year development. This edge is otherwise called the influence proportion and can run from twenty to 200, contingent upon the monetary foundations included. In the event that the given influence proportion is twenty, the broker utilizing an utilized spot agreement can approach a credit line multiple times bigger than his/her underlying edge (security). Obviously, the utilized proportion permits dealers (the two theorists and hedgers) to exchange at a fundamentally lower capital prerequisite when contrasted with the spot advertise. The general system of every one of these business sectors (forward, prospects, choices, trades and currency markets) will be clarified in detail in this proposition. 1.2 Research Context: The determination of the specific research approach relies upon the sort of data required. Subjective research gathers, breaks down, and deciphers information that can't be definitively evaluated, that is, summed up as numbers. Thus, subjective research is once in a while alluded to as delicate research. â€Å"Quantitative Research† calls for unmistakable information, equipped for proposing a last strategy. An essential job of quantitative research is to test hunches or theories. These recommend that subjective methodology is a delicate research approach in which gathered information can't be seriously measured and all the more significantly in this methodology non-organized research is led. In any case, most definitely, through this methodology organized research is led with moving toward bigger respondents and the gathered information can be definitively measured. Research information can be gathered either as auxiliary or essential or both. This supposition that is clearly not practical. With the intend to close this hole among hypothesis and practice, another model is created in this postulation utilizing the presumptions that the financing cost certainly changes as indicated by monetary conditions or arrangements and that the conversion scale development follows the example of an irregular walk, which is a stochastic procedure. In addition, over the span of our exploration, we didn't experience any writing that managed utilized spot contracts as both theoretical and supporting instruments. Clearly the utilized spot showcase is generally less regularly utilized by budgetary subsidiaries dealers, contrasted with conventional instruments, for example, forward, prospects, alternatives, trades, and the currency advertise. Our goal is consequently to build up a model utilizing utilized spot contracts as a powerful money related instrument that can be utilized for both theoretical and supporting purposes. 1.3 Research Objective: * Analysis of Derivatives and the view of investors† 1.4 Research Questions: Represent how the utilized spot market can be used both as a conjecturing just as a supporting apparatus. Infer bits of knowledge into how true information will influence the ideal number of agreements that a broker should exchange (or contribute) at some random time. Present a Black scholes model for theory utilizing utilized spot contracts dependent on Krugmans model of swapping scale elements inside an objective zone. Show how a dealer can support a vacant situation in the utilized spot advertise with a concurrent situation in the forward market to create benefit. Clarify how a hedger can support a current business exchange presentation utilizing alternatives. 1.5 Research Boundary and Scope: This postulation is sorted out into parts/segments. The primary part is a prologue to the proposal. Next section gives a view on supporting and the unpredictability of the Stock market. These two sections: the initial segment covers a foundation of supporting and investigates the normal applications and procedures of supporting; and the subsequent part covers the unpredictability of Stock market developments, giving a concise foundation on the monetary basics of conversion standard assurance and elements, swapping scale frameworks, universal money related markets, and government strategies influencing swapping scale frameworks. How the utilized spot market can be utilized as a conjecturing apparatus. We have adjusted model of swapping scale elements inside an objective zone, we expect that the conversion standard development follows the example of an irregular walk and we build up a model indicating how the utilized spot agreement can be utilized as a better monetary instrument when looked at than forward and spot contracts in specific situations. Be that as it may, before building up this model shows the component of exchanging the utilized spot showcase with a numerical model. This portrays how to take out the hazard which emerges from theoretical utilized spot exchanges utilizing a forward agreement. In addition, a few numerical models are utilized to outline how organizations can use utilized spot contracts as a supporting apparatus. We appear in this part the utilized spot contract, when utilized related to a forward agreement, can without a doubt determine hazard free benefits for its clients. The adequacy and benefit created from utilizing utilized spot contracts relies upon the influence proportion and the financing cost differential between the home and remote nations. Part 2: Literature Review The money related world has seen a few significant fiascoes over the most recent dozen years. The main fiasco was the breakdown of Barings Bank in Britain in 1995. The banks breakdown was an immediate consequence of Nick Lessons forceful exchanging the prospects and choices markets. Somewhere in the range of 1992 and 1995, oneself declared â€Å"Rogue Trader†1 amassed misfortunes of over  £800million. In February 1995, the multi year-old Barings Bank couldn't meet the Singapore Mercantile Exchanges (SIMEX) edge call. The bank was announced bankrupt and was purchased by the Dutch Bank, ING, for just  £1. The subsequent fiasco was the Asian budgetary emergency in 1997. Much writing had been expounded on the emergency as the money related world attempts to comprehend what turned out badly that prompted the emergency. A few creators asserted that the emergency was activated by the run of frenzy speculators on those economies just as contributor on banks which prompted the expl osion of an air pocket economy; while others accused the emergency for the ethical risk in the Asian banking (financing) frameworks. We accept that the Asian money related emergency was expected primarily (yet not restricted) to the auxiliary unevenness in the area, brought about by huge current record shortages, high outside obligation trouble, and the disappointment of governments to balance out their national monetary forms. These issues were decline by the poor prudential guideline of 1 Nick Lesson composed a life account called â€Å"Rogue Trader† itemizing his job in the Barings outrage while detained, the Asian monetary framework during the 1990s. The blend of these components added to the drawn out collection of issues in basics, for example, enormous measure of ‘over-loaning and terrible credits in banking frameworks which prompted the insolvencies of huge firms/banks in the economy, and inevitably pulverized the certainty of speculators and set off the frenzy run of the two speculators and contributors of the Asian monetary framework. As a feature of the endeavors, governments took a stab at entering the subordinate markets to balance out their monetary standards. The Thai Government, for example, used the forward market. Be that as it may, as the world saw the breakdown of a few Asian

Essay about Unemployment in the United States

National Rate of Unemployment in the United States According to the released Bureau of Labor Statistics, the rate of unemployment in United States has increased over at an alarming rate. Approximately 11.3 million people in the country are unemployed. This is approximately 7.3 percent of the national population. This has affected the economy of the country negatively. According to the report, the number of people who were temporarily laid off had risen by approximately 448 000 people. The statistics revealed the unemployment rates for various groups of people in the country. The rate of unemployment among men was at 7.0 percent and about 6.4 percent among women. The increase in the rate of employment among women came as a result of increase in women empowerment programs countrywide. The unemployment rate was highest among the teenagers whereby approximately 22.2 percent of the teenagers did not have jobs. This can be attributed to their lack of skills and failure in implementing better youth empowerment programs. Unemployment rates a mong the racial groups differed significantly. It was highest among the blacks whereby approximately 13.1 percent of the blacks were unemployed. The rate was lowest among the whites where only 6.3 percent were unemployed (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Several factors have led to the increase of unemployment in the country. The poor performance of the American economy has contributed to increased rates of unemployment in the country. One of the most significant landmarks that have led to the increase in the rate of unemployment is the recent economic crisis in the country. Different sectors of the economy have portrayed different trends of unemployment. The leisure and entertainment sector was one of the sectors that were highly affected by the economic crisis. This led to high levels of unemployment in the sector. The retail and marketing sector also lay off a significant number of workers during the economic crisis. In the health sector, close to half a million people have been temporarily laid off following the recent government shutdown. There has been an increase in part time jobs leading to the reluctance of companies to employ people on permanent terms. The failure of companies to invest their profits in the employment of people has contributed to the increase of unemployment in the country. Many companies in the country have embarked on other ways of spending their profits other than increasing the number of workers. After the economic crisis experienced in the country, many companies are cautious in increasing the number of staff. The cost of maintaining the staff in such times affects the companies negatively. This has led to high levels of unemployment in the country. Companies are seeking for an assurance of the stability of the economy before embarking on recruiting new workers. Another reason of the increase in the number of unemployment in the country is the increasing trend of the government to lay off workers. Both the central and local governments have opted to lay off many workers in recent years. The hard economic times have forced many government institutions to lay off workers instead of seeking other ways to improve the economy. This trend has encouraged people in the private sector to emulate this example fearing the hard economic times ahead. The high rate of unemployment has discouraged people from seeking jobs. They have developed the notion that jobs are hard to find in the modern society. Various types of unemployment have led to high rates of unemployment in the United States. They include structural unemployment, frictional unemployment, involuntary, cyclical, and voluntary unemployment. Statistics reveal that structural unemployment accounts more for the high levels of unemployment in the United States than cyclical unemployment. Structural unemployment arises due to technological or industrial changes in the employee’s area of specialization while cyclical unemployment arises due to demand for jobs going up and down, with the season of business such as peak and off-peak. Structural unemployment occurs when the job seeking population does not move quickly to vacant jobs due to skill mismatch. The employers have job vacancies, but the employees cannot meet the skill required to fill the vacancy with the available job. This mismatch results to long-term unemployment in the in the United States. Structural unemployment rate is evident in construction, finance, and real estate sectors because of the financial crisis in the United States. The workers who used to work in those sectors cannot be transferable easily to the growing sectors such as health care and education because of their mismatched skills. Homeowners in the underwater mortgages are unable to move to the growing areas due to housing burst in the sector. The mismatches between the workers and job openings in these sectors leave many workers unemployed leading to the high rate of national unemployment. Although structural unemployment is more identified with the unemployment rate n the United States, cyclical unemployment also plays a part in the unemployment process. Many people get employment in the boom period especially in the tourism, farming, and construction sectors. During such seasons, almost all job-seeking people get employment opportunities. After the season is over, there is low demand for services, products, and these results to few workforce requirements. Many of the employees working in these sectors are retrenched, and this leads to mass unemployment. Many businesses rely on seasonal booms and recession in the United States. These businesses produce and distribute their products in certain seasons and this makes cyclical unemployment rampant, in the United States. The high rate of unemployment in the United States is more attributed by involuntary unemployment rather than voluntary unemployment. Involuntary unemployment refers to when people looking for jobs are willing to work with the prevailing wage rate, but they cannot be employed. Voluntary unemployment occurs when the job seekers wage rate is higher than the employer’s wage rate. Involuntary unemployment in the United States is caused by; high population, high job competition, and low education and technological levels. The rising population in the United States has contributed to involuntary employment. The United States federal government has been unable to create jobs to match the increasing population making many people to lack jobs. Levels of education in the United States are low, and this has made it hard for people to match the advancing technological sector. This has made many people to lack employment in the developing companies in the states. Low demand for workers in various industries in the United States causes many people to remain unemployed against their will. There are few cases of voluntary unemployment in the United States due to high job competition. Government offering generous unemployment benefits to the unemployed population attributes to the cases of voluntary unemployment. This makes a number of people opting not look for jobs to enjoy the government benefits. Involuntary unemployment counts for a large portion of unemployment in the United States population. This is because the existing job opportunities in the job market are less than the job seeking population. This has also been propelled by the high competition for jobs (Hooper, Joseph, and Aaron Zalewski. 73). Frictional unemployment results due to people shifting from one job to another. Frictional unemployment in the United States is a common cause for the high rate of unemployment. Many factors contribute to frictional unemployment in the United States. Low payment in the job markets highly attributes to frictional unemployment because people keep looking for new jobs to be paid more. Long working hours in various companies make employees leave their current working positions. They instead look for new vacancies where they do not work for long hours. Skills mismatch also makes workers keep on searching for jobs as they fail to keep up with the growing trends in their respective jobs. Frictional unemployment is highly experienced by graduates, as they are new in the job markets and take time to find appropriate jobs within their desired wage rates. Job attitude by the people in the United States highly attributes frictional unemployment (Hooper, Joseph, and Aaron Zalewski 79). Many peopl e seeking jobs look for white-collar jobs. When these jobs are not available, they are not willing to work on the available casual ones. This attitude on jobs results to unemployment because people will keep on searching for a job. Some companies and industries contribute to frictional unemployment type by providing low wages. Many people looking for employment keep searching for companies that are well paying and this process renders high unemployment rates in the United States. Impact of unemployment in Modern America The high rate of unemployment in the United States has many impacts on the economy, demographics, and global competition. Unemployment also has psychological effects on the people of America. Unemployment makes people be involved in activities such as drug abuse and crimes that do not help the development of the country. The high number of people involved in these activities has led to a slow rate of economic growth in the United States. Lack of jobs has a negative impact on the economy because it means the government cannot get the desired revenue from these people’s salary tax. Unemployment also contributes to low global competition with other developed nations. The high rate of unemployment makes America face high competition with nations such as Canada that has a low level of unemployment. Unemployment in the United States has led to the psychological impact on families and the community in general. The children of the unemployed parents may lack proper education because t hey cannot afford school fees for their children. Lack of jobs leads to distress, and this affects the family well-being. Lack of employment causes drug abuse amongst the youths, and this affects community development (Kriner, Douglas L., and Francis 82). Lack of jobs reduces resources leading to poor housing, transport, medical care, and unfunded education institutions. There are incidences of increased crime rate due to poor education. Unemployment also creates an imbalance amongst the people. The unemployed people in the neighborhoods of the employed ones feel a sense of unfairness. This at times results to discrimination especially between the children of the involved parties. Solutions to the rate of unemployment One of the most rampant for of unemployment in the country today is frictional unemployment. Many people have voluntarily quit their jobs in search of â€Å"greener pastures†. The cause of this trend is the increase in unhappiness in their jobs. One of the most effective ways to combat the rising rates of unemployment is to reduce the number of people quitting jobs with the hope of finding better jobs. The government can achieve this by increasing the minimum wage rates. Many people who quit jobs in the country are in search of better-paying jobs. The increase in the cost of living has increased demand for better pay. Increasing the minimum wage and successive wages of people will ensure that people have the ability to cope with the rising cost of living. It will also reduce the number of cases of frictional unemployment (Kriner, Douglas L., and Francis X. Shen 97). The government also needs to promote education to ensure that workers quit when the time to quit is right. Many people end up jobless because they quit a certain work before they have gotten another work. Education to these workers will enable them quit working in place only after they have another job to take up. Education will also help in creating good relationships between employers and employees. One of the major contributors of frictional unemployment in the country today is the poor relationship between employers and employees. Education should target both employers and employees. It will help in combating prejudice to the employees and thus improving the relationship between the employees and their employers. Companies should increase their flexibility to accommodate different people. The other significant cause of unemployment in the country is the mismatch of skills required for various jobs and the jobs available. In some cases, many people in the country have no jobs because they lack the required skills and qualities that match certain jobs. The industries and companies have opted for mechanization instead of human labor. This has been one of the main causes of unemployment in the country today. One of the ways to deal with this employment is to ensure that all education offered in the country equips people with the ability to fit into various jobs in the country. The education system should equip people with the skills to handle the changes technology thus, enable people to fit into various jobs in the country. The government should put policies that enable companies to balance the use of machines and human activities. The government should put policies that ensure that companies balance the use of machinery with human employment. Companies should also ensur e they carry out regular training sessions to ensure that they equip the people relevant skills to match the required skills. Another factor that has led to the increase of unemployment in the education sector is the immobility of employees. Many people remain jobless because they cannot move to regions where jobs are available. This can be attributed to family ties and housing issues. The lack of proper housing in some regions has discouraged people from working in certain areas where jobs are available. In cases where spouses cannot find jobs in the same place, unemployment of one of the spouses is inevitable. Cynical unemployment is also prevalent in the society today. When this unemployment occurs, the number people with skills for particular jobs exceeds the number jobs available that field one of the major solutions to this unemployment is encouraging entrepreneurship. People with certain skills and qualities should not only depend on employment as their only source of revenue. They should engage in entrepreneurial activities that will help in creating jobs for themselves. The government and financial institutions may help in providing capital to these people to enable them start their entrepreneurial ventures. Entrepreneurship helps one get a job for himself and create jobs for other people. These institutions should also offer guidance to the new entrepreneurs to ensure that they succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures (Kriner, Douglas L., and Francis X. Shen 45). Another way of increasing entrepreneurship and reducing the rate of cynical unemployment is through education. The education system has failed to provide learners with entrepreneurial qualities that would help people fit into various job markets. The failure of the people to acquire the correct entrepreneurial qualities during their learning has contributed to the rise in joblessness. The government should also reward institutions and companies that offer employment to people in the country. Rewards and recognition to companies that offer employment to many people in the country will encourage companies and industries to create more job opportunities. This will help curb unemployment in the country. Voluntary unemployment occurs when a person is unemployed because he cannot find a job of his choice. Voluntary unemployment is also prevalent in the modern society. Many people remain unemployed because they cannot find their dream jobs. In other cases, the available jobs do not meet the expected wages of a person. This has led to the increase of unemployment in the modern society.  Education should equip the learners with qualities to enable them work in various environments. People should learn the importance of patience and perseverance in various positions before seeking for better jobs. Involuntary unemployment takes place when a person is willing to work at any conditions and wages but remain unemployed. A high number of people in the modern society are involuntarily unemployed. Being American is about anticipating change and being provided with the environment to dream. Americans have dreamed of a more equal union, where Women obtain the right to vote and African Americans are social equals. The country’s images of Andrew Carnegie and John D. Best Albums of 2013 by Artists Who Created Music In 2013 free essay sample

Let’s be honest, last year was a truly awful year for music albums. Sure, there were a lot of great songs; some of them are quite memorable. But albums were lacking. I only remember two albums that I liked, which were Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange and Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, m.a.a.d. city. They were great. The rest were pretty dumb. This year in 2013 has been a wonderful year for albums. I didn’t give ANY albums a perfect ten. The last time that happened was in 2011 with Bon Iver, Bon Iver. That album was freaking, oh my gosh, it ripped me apart emotionally. Whenever I hear â€Å"Beth/Rest† I start to cry. It’s so freaking beautiful. Anyways, the year is almost at a close. It’s Christmastime. So, here you all go. 25. Ariana Grande: Yours Truly- 6.8/10 A great first album. Wow, I thought I was going to hate it. I listened to it, and it wasn’t wildly original, but her voice is so sexy and beautiful and she sounds so pleasant it more than makes up for the rather dumb songwriting. I think it was great though. 24. Haim: Days Are Gone- 7.4/10 It was alright. It had some catchy tunes and it sounded great. I wish that had been a bit more risky, but it was a lot better than other albums. 23. Queen of the Stone Ages: †¦Like Clockwork- 7.7/10 I was impressed. It wasn’t too hard rocking. Sounded pretty good, but again if you’re near the bottom of the list, it 22. Drake: Nothing Was the Same- 6.5/10 It was an okay album. I list it only because it sold a bunch. Lots of critics liked it. I wouldn’t say it’s in my top 20 for Rap/Hip-Hop albums, but in the top 40 probably. 21. Charli XCX: True Romance- 7.9/10 It wasn’t very memorable, but she uses the computer well. I love â€Å"What I like†. 20. Foxygen: We are 21st†¦..-7.9/10 The return of psych edelic and religious imagery. Fascinating. 19. Tegan and Sara: Heartthrobs- 8/10 I liked Closer a lot. The album didn’t seem to have any filler, and I really appreciated that. It flowed well, and the vocals were amazing. 18.Deerhunter: Monomia- 8.6/10 A raw album. So good. It rocks through my ears all the time. It was such a great rock album. Rawness is king. 17. CHVRCHES: The Bones of What You Believe- 8.1/10 It was really original. The production was sweet. Not the best by any means, but pretty good when it comparison to the other albums that came out in 2013. 16. James Blake: Overgrown- 8.3/10 A great sound. So strange and eerie. The production was smooth and laid back. The track featuring the RZA was dope as hell. 15. Kacey Musgraves: Same Trailer, Different Park- 8.2/10 A wonderful country album that takes risks. She has the best vocals I’ve heard in country in such a long time, and her sound isn’t processed or overpower. Take a listen, and just sick back a nd listen to her silky vocals. 14. Volcano Choir: Repave- 8.5/10 Bon Iver without the falsetto. What’s better than that? 13. Julia Houlter: Loud City Song- 8.6/10 Imaginative and original to the extreme. Such a unique sound. 12. Mikal Cronin:MCII- 9/10 A great punk album that lyrically is so deep it gave me second thought about how much I hate punk music. (TIE) 12. Tyler, the Creator: Wolf- 7.9/10 A less dark and disturbing album that was much more listenable than Goblin. Its rb style makes it flow a lot better, and it has better editing. 11. Savages: Silence Yourself- 8.5/10 A good Brit-Rock album. Brings it back to the old post-punk revival kind of sound as well. 11. Disclosure: Settle- 9/10 A strange album that has some strange quirks. I applaud the artists. 10. Lorde: Pure Heroine- 9.2/10 A pretty amazing pop album which brings the dark to the pop. She’s beautiful by the way. 9. Deafheaven: Sunbather- 9.3/10 An amazing album that has beautiful melodies hidden under the darkness of the songs. Listen to it. NOW. (TIE) 9. Phoenix: Entertainment- 8.2/10 A good album that works out from a triumphant start. Pretty good. 8. Justin Timberlake: The 20/20 Experience- 8.5/10 Didn’t listen to the whole album. It works out great though. Songs could be shorter. 7. Laura Marling: Once I Was An Eagle- 9.5/10 A beautiful album that seems like one never ending song that falls apart so many times it seems so pure. 6. Kanye West: Yeezus- 9.5/10 A strange iconic rap album that feels so raw and pure that it just scares the crap out of you. Repeat listens are recommended. 5. Phosphorescent: Muchacho- 9.6/10 A beautiful album that excels into greatness. 4. The National: Trouble Will Find Me- 9.4/10 My favorite band made a great record. 3. Earl Sweatshirt: Doris- 9.1/10 An experimental rap album that is a great debut. He’s a talented rapper, and has a lot of skill. One of my heroes. 2. Daft Punk: Random Access Memories- 9.6/10 It sounds great. I fell in love with how beautiful and original it sounds. I can’t ever escape its scope and it’s not repetitive. I’d listen to it all day and not get bored. 1. Arcade Fire: Reflektor- 9.7/10 A double album that sounds so odd and dark that it gives some of the greatest reflection of technology and the internet. I fell in so much love when I listened to it, and it gets better with each listen. I’d listen to it all day along with Daft Punk. 1. Vampire Weekend: Modern Vampires of the City- 9.7/10 It sounds perfect. It looks perfect. It feels perfect. The first song is the only reason why it isn’t perfect. Great song, just not perfect. The rest of the album is perfect. I love it. Perfection is here!

Anne Frank Essays (568 words) - Women In World War II,

Anne Frank These "Annex" people could live with hope by remembering all of the good times they had together, before they had to go into hiding. They had hope because they knew one day this would all have to end. Although the "Annex" people were probably stronger than most other people would be, this is because some people just can't live knowing that there can be some people in the world who have such hatred in them, that they would just want to see you die! The families of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan did this by staying together as a family and of all the things going on outside, still being able to be happy and have some fun in the Annex. It was a very hard accomplishment for them, but they did it for their family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank had to be strong to show Anne and Margot that they still had faith and hope. This was as well for Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan and for Peter. After all they've gone through, they weren't about to give up just right there. These two families were very faithful. They strongly believed in their Jewish religion. This is another main reason they still had hope. They believed in God and knew that he was watching over them, and he would take care of them. As each day went by, the families hope grew, they knew that they were one day stronger and they survived one more day. They thanked God for this. These families found out the true meaning of life, how precious life was. With all of the violence outside and the people dying it was hard for them to have hope. Yes they were afraid, who wouldn't be. These Germans were waiting to kill them. If someone was waiting to kill you, you would be terrified! This was the way they felt, and above all this they still had hope! The two families of "Annex" people can still live with hope, because the world has some peace inside of it. They see the world as a beautiful place that is unfortunately being shattered in the wrong way with the Germans. They have hope because they know that inside of each and every German man there lives a place in there heart where they all want to live in a world that has peace over every city and countryside. This is inside everybody's hearts, we just wish we could imagine it that way. Mr. Kraler and Miep gave both families hope. This gave the two families a chance to realize that some people in the world that they live in do care for the Jews. Mr. Kraler and Miep were two very generous people, who took their time wisely and devoted it to people who needed help the most! For my conclusion to as why these two families had hope or could have hope was because... they were desperate and scared. They needed to have hope, for if they didn't they would be depressed. This was a time when all had gone wrong and people had gone mad. It was a time where all Jews had lost everything and all they had inside of them was hope. Hope that one day this would all end and that they could live in peace. This was all the Jews really ever wanted, they wanted to live in peace. They never did hurt a soul, they were just living the life that God gave them. And all they could do was hope, hope that one day this would all end.

Was the Gulf war a just war essays

Was the Gulf war a just war essays In 1991 the new international order is threatened by one man, Saddam Hussain, who has deliberately broken the international rules by aggressing one of his Arab neighbours Kuwait. A far-reaching decision is then taken : to declare war on Iraq. More than 10 years later, the situation in the Gulf region remains unsolved. This observation raises a question : What was the use of a war in 1991 if the international order is still in jeopardy 10 years later Was the Gulf War a just war Then the concept of just war reappears suddenly. But the notion is far from being a new one. It pervades the western tradition on war from Saint Augustine to Grotius and later on the international law. This doctrine provides us with two useful elements : One the one hand, the concept of jus as bellum addresses the question of the justification of force ; On the other hand, the concept of jus in bellum concerns the restraints and limits on how force may be use. Thus are expressed the criteria to define whether or not a war is just. We can justify the use of force thanks to the concepts of just cause, last resort, right authority, and proportionality. First, what is a just cause In the tradition, for a just cause to exist, the purpose of the war must be done to redress in some way a wrong done by the enemy2. More specifically in the XXe century, the International Law has gradually reduced the acceptable justification of war to one - Defence, which implies the notion of second use of force and that of aggression. But how is aggression recognised Article 1 : Aggression is the use of armed force by a State against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of another State. Article 5 : No consideration of whatever nature, whether political, economic, military or otherwise, may serve as a justification for In the case of the Gulf War, the Iraqi...

McCabe on Faith and Reason Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

McCabe on Faith and Reason - Essay Example Indeed, Christianity or Islam operate with rather complex notions and require their followers to have a strong faith. In this paper I will argue that Herbert McCabe fails to draw a good connection between faith and reason because his arguments are too ambiguous. This represents the major drawback of his position when it comes to explaining what role the latter plays in the former. In order to demonstrate this, I will first explore his position on the connection between faith and reason; then pay attention to the merits of it and, afterwards, put emphasis on the deficiencies that can be found in it. To begin with, it may be particularly important to outline the view of McCabe on the way faith and reason are connected. He points out that there are two extreme positions when it comes to faith: on the one hand, some might argue that to practice it one should not have any reasons at all which means that faith is above any reasoning; on the other hand, others are firm in that their faith can hardly be disproved logically. The scholar notes that true understanding of faith lies somewhere in between as â€Å"the first extreme makes the notion of truth inapplicable. The other makes the notion of faith inapplicable† (McCabe 5). In addition McCabe notes that people who dismiss the importance of the relationship between faith and reasons fail to â€Å"take sufficiently seriously the point that faith means holding something as true – they think of faith as more an act of courage or trust in a very general sense† (McCabe 6). So, he proves that it is essential to make th is relationship clear. There are several merits of such an approach. First of all, McCabe shows that faith should not be perceived as some kind of a metaphysical knowledge that is beyond common sense and is incompatible with logic. Quite the opposite, he draws several examples, as in the case of marrying for money, which show that faith is a rather difficult complex and any

Denver art museum Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 5

Denver art museum - Essay Example It appears, after some time observing it, to be a functional piece of furniture, very chic and flirtatious. The concept and design is simple, but whimsical. It appeared to be made of patent leather or similar material, and it comes in a variety of colors to suit any dà ©cor. This is a very quirky piece, I found it very appealing. The tipi of Standing Bear was very moving to see. It brought feelings of remorse as well as excitement to see such an incredible piece of American history. Given what the white man did to the Indian people, seeing this tipi was and emotional experience. It depicted many horses being ridden as well as herded; perhaps symbolizing the horses Standing Bear took from other tribes. It is a very colorful, beautiful piece that should be regarded with tranquility. â€Å"Dylan†, by Milton Glaser (1966) is definitely apiece appropriate for its time. The colors are vibrant and attracting, reminiscent of the turbulence of the ‘60’s. It portrayed, at least to me, the mix of thought and feelings of that period, and the inner struggles that people had to endure at the time. It is a stunning piece that moves the soul. Hock E Aye Vi Edgar’s â€Å"Heap of Birds† (2004), is simply extraordinary. Its subtle tone leaves the soul feeling pitiful. The trees that he created feel more like tombstones or crosses instead of actual trees. He consciously references indigenous people and their cultures in each tree. The wheel that the trees become represent to me a changing of the tides of the world, culturally, spiritually and economically. It just leaves the heart crying, needing redemption. This is a superb piece that is extremely difficult to take your eye from it is so moving. â€Å"Venturi Faà §ade†, by Rauch, Brown and Venturi (1979) just shrieks 1970’s pop culture. Kathmandu Enter Into Chinese Market Essay With the rapid development of economy and society, Chinese market has attracted a great number of attentions from foreign companies. Therefore, how to enter into Chinese market and how to be a successful company in China has become a realistic issue faced by business managers, entrepreneurs and consultants. This essay will focus on introducing one Australian local brand â€Å"Kathmandu† which is an outdoor sport equipment company into Chinese market. Thus, a detailed analysis of the current situation of the Chinese market and this foreign company is indispensable. Firstly, this paper will analyze the current situation of the Chinese outdoor sport market and the Chinese economy, and then identify the strengths and weakness of the Kathmandu Company when entering into Chinese market. Subsequently, selection of entry modes and partner and recommendations will be provided to deal with or to reduce the risks when enter into the Chinese outdoor sport market. 2. BACKGROUND ABOUT KATHMANDU COMPANY Kathmandu Holdings Limited was established by John Pawson and Jan Cameron in 1987. The company started off as a small outdoor apparel shop in New Zealand and in 25 years has grown to a multi-national brand primarily producing outdoor sport clothing and equipment which combine with the advanced technology, high quality and high comfort level. Such as, tents and shelters, packs and luggage, sleeping gear, outdoor clothing, footwear and other accessories of outdoor. In 2006, one Australasian private equity company fully acquired Kathmandu for NZ$275 million. Currently Kathmandu does the business in Australia, New Zealand and England. The company slogan aims to capture young and adventurous individuals and the marketing strategy has been built around this notion (Kathmandu, 2012). 3. OPPORTUNITIES OF CHINESE OUTDOOR MARKET 3. 1 Outdoor sport in China Along with the development of economy and living stander, outdoor sport becomes increasingly popular in China. In China, outdoor sport was started at Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai in 1999(Chinese News, 2011). Currently, combing with pressure reducing, such sport increase quite fast and become one kind of society fashion. There are four outdoor sport activities which include High Mountain, exploration, rock climbing and bicycling in China (Chinese outdoor Sport Association, 2012). The outdoor sport is an professional sport activity not only require a good physical quality but also good clothing and equipment to resist the bad environment. Therefore, fast increase of the outdoor sport contributes to sharp augment on demand of outdoor sport clothing and equipment. As reporting by China Outdoor Sport Association, the number of annual sales from existing manufactories of outdoor equipment was 800 million RMB in 2010, while the number of that in 2000 was 60 million RMB, and the number of Chinese participation in the outdoor sport has reached one hundred million (China Outdoor Sport Association, 2012). Hence, along with the unbelievable development of the outdoor sport and the higher demand of outdoor products, obviously, the potential of the Chinese outdoor sport market is quite considerable. 3. 2 Situation of Chinese outdoor market Basic the market research, currently, there are approximately 200 Chinese local outdoor sport brands and around 1100 outdoor clothing and equipment stores. Although the outdoor industry of China is at beginning phases, every year increase 50%. The CEO of the GORE Company which is one of the beat 100 American outdoor equipment companies pointed out that such fast increase would maintain at the least 5 years in China (Simone, 2002). It can be calculated that the Chinese outdoor sport market should be worth around two billion. However, even though the outdoor sport is obtaining swift development, the outdoor market is relatively backward. The local manufactures only produce or provide elementary products or services, lack of the leading company and well-known brand is a serious issue in the local market. Therefore, it is a favorable opportunity for Kathmandu to expend to the Chinese outdoor market, because of the sharp escalation of market demand and insufficient supply of the local outdoor market. 3. 3 Competitors in Chinese outdoor market China already had around 200 local brands in outdoor sport market. However, in such new industry market foreign companies occupied the main position. According to the research, there are four main competitors for Kathmandu in the Chinese outdoor market, which include The North Face that is an American company, it has a long history and produce fine workmanship products, one company of France named ALGLE which entered into China in 1997, and its products are practical and noble. OZARK which is a Switzerland Company and the design of their products is following the characteristic of the Chinese. The last one competitor is Salewa from German (Chinese News, 2011). Compare with these foreign companies, the technology and quality of the local brands are at lower level, particularly, at the aspect of technology. Company is difficult to survive without advanced technology supporting, especially, in the outdoor sport market. Therefore, the outdoor market that has a small number of strong competitors will supply an opportunity for Kathmandu to obtain the biggest market share by adopting the advanced technology. 3. 4 Chinese economic situation For the financial reason, the Chinese market is quite appropriate for the Kathmandu to enter. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recourses, in 2010 the number of average disposable personal income of cities and towns was 21033 RMB, which was higher 11. 3% than that in 2009. Meanwhile, the recourses also mentioned that the number of average disposable personal income in cities and towns was 7414 RMB in the first quarter 2011, which was higher 14. 1% than that in 2010 (National Bureau of Statistics, 2011). The increase of the disposable personal income of the Chinese offered an ideally material guarantee for consumption of the outdoor sport, which also means that Chinese has obtained higher purchasing power than before. The Nominal GDP per capita continues experiencing increase since 2001 to 2010 from 8. 3% to 10. 3% (National Bureau of Statistics, 2011). Following the acceleration of the urbanization progress, increasingly Chinese has selected outdoor sport, particularly, the young people. As the China Outdoor Sport Association report 2010, 90% of the participators already have attained high education degrees and the wages in the 65% of them over 5000RMB per month, 20 to 40 years old people occupied 84. 1% (Chinese News, 2011). China possesses the most enormous consumer groups which attract the vision of the world. Such consumer groups will contribute more benefits than England and New Zealand for Kathmandu. According to the National Development and Reform Commission, there is a police of 5 years plant from 2011 to 2015, which will focus on inequality of wealth distribution and shifting emphasis from investment to consumption (National Development and Reform Commission, 2011). Therefore more money will be spent in rural and inland development. So that Kathmandu can expect a growing number of potential customers in the coming 5 years. Therefore, the current situation of the Chinese market is ideally for Kathmandu to attract more customers and to sales more outdoor products. 4. STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF KATHMANDU IN CHINA Kathmandu has sufficient experience on oversea expending. According to the Kathmandu office report, currently, the company of Kathmandu has totally 107 retail stores, 65 located in Australia, 39 in New Zealand and 6 in United Kingdom respectively. In 2003 and 2004, the company entered into the market of United Kingdom, and speedy became one of the top two outdoor brands in the UK. The office report also mentioned that the Kathmandu Company made 237 million AU$ sales and obtained 7 million profit in 2011(Kathmandu, 2012). Therefore, the Kathmandu has sufficient expending experience, which enables to reduce risks that are bought by the insufficient of experience when enter into China. Furthermore, owning of advanced technologies is able to guarantees the leading position in Chinese outdoor market. Specifically, the technologies of anti-wind, anti-fire, waterproof and high heat preservation are adopted by all of their products with high comfortable level. Such advanced technologies are what the Chinese local outdoor equipment market and customers need. However, there are some weaknesses of Kathmandu can not be ignored in Chinese market. Firstly, lack of Guan XI (special relationship) will be the main issue for the company. In Chinese market, it is difficult to obtain long-term profit that making the business without a favorable Guan Xi, particularly, the closing relationship with the Chinese government. The Kathmandu may face some restriction from the Chinese Government. Such as, polices changing, law modifying and the controlling on some local resources, which will bring a great number of obstacles on operation of the Kathmandu company in China. Secondly, low brand awareness will lead to high cost in Chinese market. Obviously, although there is an increase in the demand of western products for the Chinese customers, the products selection of customers is quite cautious, especially on unacquainted brands. The Kathmandu may needs more patience to the Chinese clients to know more about the products of the Kathmandu, in other words, more time is required by the Chinese market. In addition, in such situation, more capitals will be spent by the company on advertising in order to build the name recognition. Thus, these weaknesses may bring some risks for the Kathmandu company operation in China. 5. HOW TO ENTER INTO CHINESE OUTDOOR MARKET 5. 1 Selection of the entry modes The selection of entry modes is crucial for every company when enter into a new market. There are two major entry modes, which include non-equity modes and equity modes (Chen Hui, 2002). As a multinational company and has good expending experience in the UK and New Zealand, it is undeniable that equity modes is appropriate to the Kathmandu when enter into Chinese market. The entry modes contain joint-venture, acquisitions and green-fields (Peter, 2008). Merger and acquisition can assists the Kathmandu directly entering into Chinese market by purchasing the company that already has established in China. However, a large number of capitals are required by the Kathmandu company to merger the Chinese local company, which means more cost will occur when choose this entry method. In addition, social-cultural environment issue should be considered by the western companies, acquisition entry method may be related to a sort of aggression by Chinese duo to the Chinese history, so that some threatens will be faced by the Kathmandu Company, for instant, anti-products and service of the company. The green-fields entry method also requires large number of capitals to support, and this approach is quite complicate to operate. While more freedom in designing the plant, selecting suppliers, and hiring a work force will be contributed by green-field (Ilkaka, 2007). Compare with acquisition and green-field, joint-venture entry method is more appropriate to the Kathmandu Company to enter into the Chinese outdoor market. The reasons as follow, firstly, Beamish pointed out that joint-venture is cheaper to exit compare with green-fields and also has the advantage that benefits the company to directly enter the market of other countries (Beamish, 2001). Secondly, the Kathmandu Company is not familiar with Chinese institutions and regulations, finding a Joint-Venture partner can help understand rules of running business, and the Guan Xi of the Chinese partner can be used by the Kathmandu in China. Moreover, such method will provide strong bargaining power with Joint-Venture partner for the company, as Kathmandu can provide high technical resources and product line which is the crucial issue facing by the Chinese outdoor companies. However, there are some disadvantages that lead to the risks to the Kathmandu Company from the joint-venture entry method. Firstly, the joint-venture may modify the partner to competitor (Swierczak, 1994). Specifically, it is dangerous that giving the advanced technologies to the partner to control. Perhaps the primary goal of the local partner is to control the leading technologies of the Kathmandu; such technologies will be used by other local companies on their products in order to obtain the bigger market share and to make more profit, which should be the most primary risk for the Kathmandu Company. Secondly, shared ownership can lead to conflict over goals and control. The ownership and administrative power will become the main conflict between the partner and the foreign company (Swierczak, 1994). In order to control and make the biggest profit to their own company, both local and foreign company adopts various approaches to attain the beneficial position in the joint-venture company. Such as, increasing the investment and controlling the resources. Balancing the advantages and disadvantages for the Kathmandu Company to select the entry modes in Chinese market, joint-venture is the ideally entry modes for the company. However, which Chinese partner should be selected by the Kathmandu is another issue. 5. 2 Selection of the Chinese partner There are a great number of local outdoor or sport brands in China. However, it is difficult to find a well-known outdoor sport brand because of the new outdoor market. Thus selecting a famous sport equipment company as the joint-venture partner is the best selection for Kathmandu Company. The Chinese sport companies include 361, ERKE, ANTA, PEAK, DOUBLE STAR, Xtep and LI NING (Chinese sport research, 2011). According to LI NING annual report 2010, the capitalization of the company has reached 8. 387 billion and has had 8156 sales shops in 1800 cities in China, and The number of LI NING brand retail stores is 7478 Moreover, LI NING has the highest reputation as the company is sponsoring several of Chinese sport national teams. The company already cooperated with AIGLE, LOTTO and Kason using joint-venture entry modes, which means that LI NING has had sufficient experience on such entry modes, and the high experience will assists the Kathmandu to reduce the risks on joint-venture (LI NING, 2011). Therefore, LI NING should be the most appropriate joint-venture partner for the Kathmandu Company, the large number of LI NING sales network and capitalization will contribute the convenience to the Kathmandu to enter into Chinese outdoor market. 6. CONCLUSION China has become the biggest market for the foreign company duo to the rapid development of economy and society. Such development specifically expressed in the GDP and the average disposable personal income continually increase, which also represent high purchasing power in China. In the same period, the fast development of Chinese outdoor sport market contributes to the high demand not only for the outdoor clothing and equipment but also for the advanced technologies of the outdoor equipment in the Chinese outdoor market, and the lower strong competitors also provide a God-given opportunity for the Kathmandu outdoor equipment company to enter such ideally market. Hence, how to enter Chinese market will be the first issue faced by every foreign company manager. The joint-venture entry modes should be the possible modes selected by the foreign company, particularly, the Kathmandu Company duo to the lower cost, easily access the market. The Kathmandu enables to use the local resources and Guan Xi network of the LI NING Company, which are the weaknesses of the Kathmandu, via joint-venture in order to become a successful company operating in China after into the outdoor market. Both companies will obtain the benefits that they want from joint-venture entry modes. 7. REFERENCES Beamish, P. W. ,Banks, J. C. 2001. Different Sides of Embryonic Stem Cell Research :: Stem Cell Biology

The field of stem cell research remains highly controversial because of its ethical and moral values. â€Å"Despite the news in 2006 that researchers had found a way to harvest human embryonic stem cells without having to destroy embryos, controversy still surrounds potentially life-saving stem cell research.† (Gruen, 2007). Due to the strong emotional responses to some of the subject matter by the pro-lifers and certain religions and politics in general, I will attempt to explain different sides of embryonic stem cell research (ESC). This study describes what viable embryos are and the issues connected with them. Are stem cells viable embryos? Can they ever be a human being? Stem cells are no more than a precursor for some type of cell. They are not tiny embryos nor can they ever become embryos. Are human embryonic stem cells embryos? Although stem cells of themselves are not embryos, they are pluripotent; they can develop into any cell or tissue of the body. They are not ca pable of forming a new individual, as a fertilized egg or single cell taken from a four-cell embryo might if cultured in vitro and placed in a uterus. Stem cell research has become a subject of political discussion in recent years because of its social and ethical implications, but what is the big controversy with stem cell research? Most diseases are caused by the death of healthy cells in a particular organ. Parkinson’s disease is caused by the death of brain cells that produce a chemical call dopamine and diabetes is caused by the death of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. None of these organs can replace the cells that die. With stem cell therapy, these cells can be replaced. Researchers and scientists study stem cells to get a basic understanding of the process in cell development and disease. â€Å"The opposition of research on human embryos usually start and finish their argument with the claim that the human embryo is, from the moment of conception,a living , innocent human being. But the morality of using a being for research should depend on what the being is like, not on the species to which it belongs.† (Singer, 2001) This being of 64 cells has no brain and has never been conscious and can feel no pain. Take for instance researchers who do research on rats, the rats are not capable of preferring not to be in situations that are painful and frightening to them.

Animal Assisted Therapy Essay

Animal-assisted therapy sprouted from the idea and initial belief in the supernatural powers of animals and animal spirits. First appearing in the groupings of early hunter gatherer societies. In modern times Animals are seen as â€Å"agents of socialization† and as providers of â€Å"social support and relaxation.† [5] Though animal assisted therapy is believed to have began in these early human periods it is undocumented and based on speculation. The earliest reported use of AAT for the mentally ill took place in the late 18th century at the York Retreat in England, led by William Tuke.[6] Patients at this facility were allowed to wander the grounds which contained a population of small domestic animals. These were believed to be effective tools for socialization. In 1860, the Bethlem Hospital in England followed the same trend and added animals to the ward, greatly influencing the morale of the patients living there.[6] Sigmund Freud kept many dogs and often had his chow Jofi present during his pioneering sessions of psychoanalysis. He noticed that the presence of the dog was helpful because the patient would find that their speech would not shock or disturb the dog and this reassured them and so encouraged them to relax and confide. This was most effective when the patient was a child or adolescent.[7] The theory behind AAT is what is known as Attachment theory. Therapy involving animals was first used in therapy by Dr. Levinson who accidentally discovered the use of pet therapy with children when he left his dog alone with a difficult child, and upon returning, found the child talking to the dog.[8] However, in other pieces of literature it states that it was founded as early as 1792 at the Quaker Society of Friends York Retreat in England.[9] Velde, Cipriani & Fisher also state â€Å"Florence Nightingale appreciated the benefits of pets in the treatment of individuals with illness. The US military promoted the use of dogs as a therapeutic intervention with psychiatric patients in 1919 at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC. Increased recognition of the value of human–pet bonding was noted by Dr. Boris Levinson in 1961†.[9] Wikipedia – Animal-assisted therapy

Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons - 2006 Words

Etti A Man for All Seasons was a play written by Robert Bolt in 1960. The play showcased the controversy and corruption in sixteenth century politics in England. It demonstrated how treachery can easily befall anyone at any time as long as people have the determination and the correct position of power to bring them down. It displays how corrupt the time period was and how people were willing to turn on others for their own selfish reason. In Robert Bolt?s A Man for All Seasons, political corruption is shown through the destruction of Sir Thomas More. Relationships in the play take on a significant role; they influence how vulnerable a person would be to corruption. Trust and loyalty are dependent on relationships, the more trust a†¦show more content†¦The relationship between The Church and King Henry was very important because the dispute is what led to the downfall of More. It gave Cromwell the opening he needed to take him down, and he took it. More was very resistant to the premise of corruption. He can be labeled as one of the only people in the play who didn?t give in to it. More was unwavering in his fight against corruption, nothing could shake him. He was the moral compass of the story the only one who seemed to be following his conscience. His martyrdom and refraining from corruption separated him from others in the story. This also separated him from the common man, the people that Bolt was trying to connect with.3 The main reason for More?s resistance was his religious beliefs. More truly believed he was a man of God, and he was willing to die for his beliefs. ?And when we stand before God, and you are sent to paradise for doing according to your conscience, and I am damned for not doing according to mine, will you come with me, for fellowship4 More is a strong believer that he needs to follow his conscience, his reasoning for denying corruption is not exactly all religion based. He himself believes that he needs t o do what is right and listen to his own conscience and morality not exactly God. He is a firm believer in natural law. Not on paper, but in your heart. Without natural law, there is no protection in
